อาจจะมีคนคิดว่า การเข้าวัดฟังธรรมเป็นเรื่องของสว. (สูงวัย) แต่ชาวศรีลังกาไม่คิดเช่นนั้น เพราะลูกเด็กเล็กแดงในประเทศนี้ จะตามพ่อ-แม่ไปวัดตั้งแต่ยังเป็นทารก รวมทั้งยังถืออุโบสถศีลตามพ่อ-แม่ด้วย โดยเด็กๆจะถือศีลแปดจนถึงเวลา 6โมงเย็นของทุกวันพระ แม้เมื่อย่างเข้าสู่วัยรุ่น ก็จะไปวัดกับเพื่อนๆ
